Dogs Behind Fences

animal services truck

This afternoon Sadie and I went to the edge of the city. We could see some mountains there, without houses on them. We also saw this truck.

I was scared when I saw the truck. I had seen people in brown clothes get out of them and grab dogs and put them in those boxes at the back of the truck. The dogs were like Sadie and me, out on the streets without people. The dogs didn't want to go and they cried and barked and tried to get away.

We were very careful. We didn't want anyone in brown clothes to come get us and put us in that truck! There wasn't anyone in the truck, though. It was just sitting there, and we could hear the sounds of dogs barking. We had to find them.

We searched around the place where that truck was and found the dogs. They were behind a fence. We talked to one of them. He said his name was Arf. He seemed like a nice dog. He said he had been in there for two days and they gave him food and some of the people in brown clothes came out to talk to him sometimes. He said it wasn't too bad. But he also said there were other dogs there and they took them away and they were scared. He didn't know where they
went.

Arf seemed like such a nice dog. We wanted him to come out because we wanted to play with him but we couldn't find a way to get him out.

While we were talking to him a man in brown clothes came into the fenced area and saw us. He yelled something and we ran. We didn't want to take a chance that we might get caught.
