Another dog, another fence

After running away from the man in the brown clothes, Sadie and I hid in some bushes for a while. Nobody seemed to be looking for us so we went out and started looking around again.
We found another place where there were dogs behind fences. It looked a lot like the other one, where Arf was, but we didn't see any of those trucks.
We saw one dog there near the fence and we asked her why she was there. She said she hadn't been there very long and was just trying to figure it out herself.
"How did you get here?" I asked.
"I used to live with my person," she said. "She was a very nice woman. She moved slowly and seemed to have trouble opening the bags of dog food and taking me for walks. I think she was sick. After a while someone else came and took me for walks. And then one day that person took me outside and put me in a car and brought me here. She seemed sad."
"What's it like there?"
"It's okay, really. I have lots of friends here. Some have been here for a long time. Sometimes a person will come and meet us all and then take one of us out. They seem happy and the dog seems happy so I guess they are going some place good. Maybe they are going to be that dog's new people. I hope I get new people."
I watched her for a while and thought about what it might be like to be in there. Would it be okay if you got new people? What if you didn't?
